Create Colorful Jellyfish with Paper Plates

While encountering a jellyfish while swimming in the ocean may not be desirable, these marine creatures are undeniably fascinating. This summer, engage your kids in creating their own jellyfish using paper plates. This craft project is perfect for preschoolers, kindergarteners, and elementary children. Supplies You’ll Need

  • Paper plate
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Pencil
  • Colored cardstock or construction paper
  • Black marker
  • Glue
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Jellyfish template (available at the end of this post)

Crafting Instructions

  1. Download the jellyfish template and print it. Cut out the necessary pieces carefully.

  1. Paint a small section at the bottom of the paper plate using a lighter shade of the main jellyfish color. Paint the rest of the plate using a darker shade. Allow the paint to dry completely.

  1. Trace the two jellyfish body parts on the upper and lower sections of the paper plate, and then cut them out.

  2. Flip the two pieces over and slightly overlap the lower body part onto the bottom of the main body part. Secure the pieces together using tape or glue.

  1. Flip the jellyfish back over and glue the eyes in the middle of the main body piece.

  1. Glue the cheeks on the outside of each eye. Use the black marker to draw a smile just below the eyes.

  1. Flip the jellyfish over and arrange the tentacles according to your preference. Once arranged, use tape to secure them to the back.
