Looking for a fun craft that kids and grown-ups alike will enjoy? Look no further than these stunning tissue paper roses. With just a few simple steps, you can create gorgeous roses that look just like the real thing. Whether you want to give a single rose or a whole bouquet, this craft is perfect for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion. Let’s get started!

A Twist on a Classic Craft

Last year, we made paper towel roses for Valentine’s Day, and they turned out beautifully. This year, we wanted to try something different, so we decided to use tissue paper instead. The results are absolutely stunning! These tissue paper roses look even more realistic than last year’s version. Plus, they’re a great craft for Mother’s Day or a birthday gift for Mom or Grandma.

Materials You’ll Need

Before we dive into the instructions, let’s gather our supplies. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Tissue paper in various shades of red and pink
  • Wooden chopstick, green drinking straw, or green pipe cleaner
  • Green paint and paintbrush
  • Glue
  • Clear tape

Step-by-Step Instructions

Now that we have our supplies ready, let’s start making our tissue paper roses. Follow these simple steps:

  1. Paint your chopstick green and allow it to dry completely.
  2. Cut a tissue paper rectangle measuring 11 x 4 inches. Then, cut it lengthwise into 2 strips.
  3. Make a 1/4 inch fold along the long side of one of the strips and glue it in place. Repeat this step on the other strip. These folds will provide structure to your rose petals.
  4. Wrap the short end of one of the tissue paper strips around the narrow end of the chopstick stem and pinch it in place with your thumb and forefinger.
  5. Gently twist the chopstick with one hand, winding the tissue paper around it.
  6. Guide the tissue paper as it winds around the chopstick, frequently pinching the tissue paper at the base of the rose bud to keep everything aligned. Don’t worry about perfection; a loose and messy look creates a more natural appearance.
  7. When you reach the end of the first tissue paper strip, pinch it in place and continue winding with the second strip.
  8. Once you reach the end of the second strip, pinch all the tissue paper tight at the base of the rose and secure it to the chopstick stem with clear tape.
  9. Use a little glue to secure any loose ends of the tissue paper if needed.

And voila! You have a beautiful tissue paper rose. Wasn’t that easy?
